Now you're probably wondering... |
Why should you care?Malkiel was always the quiet kid at the back of the class growing up. That is, until a meteor struck his house and gave him other-worldly powers. Now that he's filled his joke quota, lets press forward. Malkiel was raised on cartoons, comic books and sitcoms- introducing him to many new ways to push his creative agenda. He started at nine years old: writing, drawing and selling his own comic books on the playground for two bucks a pop. His fourth grade teacher caught him and after a hefty explanation on his part, she wound up buying one too, proving that the work he makes can turn even the biggest objectors into fans. He carried this mentality into high school, where his love for animation came into play and he taught himself how to animate using Adobe Flash CS5.5, creating fan-animated content for the internet. After being told by his art teachers that his art style was crude and unfortunately not quite what Sheridan College was looking for- he switched gears and started writing, winning an English award and starting work on his first animated series- "Work Sucks." It was all of his animating on the side that got him the attention of Justin Roiland, creator of Adult Swim's "Rick and Morty", a moment Malkiel will bring up until Roiland eventually hires him just to get him to shut up about it. Post-secondary, Malkiel was accepted into Humber College's BRTV program, where he rekindled his love for script writing. Malkiel never gave up on that series he was working on in high school, eventually scrapping the animated aspect and going the live-action route. He pitched the show to a panel of teachers in order to win the chance to produce his pilot for school and succeeded. "be[FORECLOSURE]" premiered online to warm reception and now he's well on his way with a new animated web-series (TBD) with his friends/collaborators. All in all, why should you care about the guy? He clearly started from the bottom and hasn't reached his full potential just yet. That means the ride to the top is going to be really fun to watch.
tl:dr because he's awesome and totally super rad. If you own a production company, you should hire him ASAP. If you know someone who owns a production company, message him using one of the links in the "Social Media" tab located under "About" in the sidebar. |
